Here are a few tracks that are either specifically about music festivals or are often associated with them. Hope this will help you get into the festival spirit! Put these on when you’re packing or en-route to your next festival ?
Beans on Toast – This Side of the Fence
Beans on Toast is a well-known name at music festivals – playing his protest folk songs to a crowd who listen intently, most of them knowing every word. This song captured the festival spirit perfectly.
…And I don’t care if the toilet stinks!
Come rain or shine I’ll deal with it,
I bought a pair of wellies anyway (anyway!)
When I wake in the morning to a sea of tents,
I’m glad I’m this side of the fence,
I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Utah Saints – Something Good
Because something good is about to happen – you’re off to a festival! Woooo!
Slamboree ft. Beans on Toast – The Festival’s Not Dead!
Decanted all my Jagermeister into plastic bottles
Got a pocket full of wristbands and vehicle passes
Don’t believe what they said,
You must be wrong in the head,
THE FESTIVAL’S NOT DEAD!
If you haven’t ever seen Slamboree perform at a festival then you’re seriously missing out. They’re a gyspy-rave-circus-pyrotechnic live performance act – well worth checking them out if you see them on a summer festival line-up.
Adam Buxton – The Festival Song
This is a middle-class p***-take on the gentrification of British Music Festivals. Worth a listen.
Fatboy Slim – Right Here, Right Now
Known for popping up and performing ‘secret sets’ at Glastonbury – a good song to get you in the mood.
Jimi Hendrix – Purple Haze
…so you can pretend you were at Woodstock.
Foo Fighters – The Pretender
Prodigy – Firestarter
RIP Keith Flint. What an excellent legendary tune to get you into the festival spirit.
