If you’re wondering where to camp at this year’s Glastonbury Festival and you’re considering Big Ground, keep reading to see whether it’s right for you!

Camping in Big Ground

Big Ground is the number 1 choice for many festival-goers. This is mainly because of its proximity to the Pyramid Stage and the awesome picturesque views it has over the area.

This campsite sits on higher ground and slopes gently towards the main stage, which means you’ll have less chance of flooding if it rains.

You’ll find plenty of toilet and water points nearby, as well as shops, bars, and food trucks.

All of this good stuff makes it a prime location… and that has a major downside. It’s busy af. And will fill up fast.

Although there are some areas to avoid, like near paths or junctions, as these areas get very busy.

If you’re looking to be close to the action and catch all the main stage performances, and at the same time have a relatively quiet spot to rest at night, Big Ground is a great option for you.

Big Ground is a popular field that tends to fill up fast on Wednesday, make sure you or your group arrive as early as possible to secure your spot!

  • Great for those who are all about the Pyramid Stage.
  • A central location on the site for camping.
  • Easy Access for those arriving by bus or car.
  • Great for people who want to be in the thick of the festival.

Cons

  • This is a busy spot, sometimes crowds for the Pyramid acts will stretch out in to the camping area!
  • Noise will be pretty much constant until the final act on the Pyramid Stage.
  • You have to get here early, like other areas near by, Big Ground will fill up by the before the end of Wednesday.

Best Place to Park for Big Ground

You could reasonably park either on the West side in Yellow or on the East side in Purple.

Best Gate to Access Big Ground

The closest gates to Row Mead are Gate A or B depending on what parking you choose.

Is Camping in Big Ground Right for You?

Big Ground would be right for you if you:

  • Want to be more central with easier access to main routes through the festival.
  • Want to stay close to The Pyramid stage, even maybe be able to watch acts from the door of your tent!
  • Don’t mind noise and crowds.
  • Are arriving to the festival early! This place will fill up.
