This article is part of our series of guides to the different campsites in Glastonbury Festival. South Park 1&2 are two public campsites that is well and truly perfect for those looking for calmer nights.
Updated for 2023!
This article covers both South Park 1 & 2 on the same page as they’re both similar.
South Park 2 is slightly more popular than South Park 1. These campsites have a secluded feel as they’re surrounded by hedgerows to the North and the perimeter fence to the South – that being said, it’s literally right on the outer edge of the festival so it’s quite far away from everything.
If you’re wondering where to camp at this year’s Glastonbury Festival and you’re considering South Park 1, keep reading to see whether it’s right for you!
Camping in South Park 1
This small and cozy campsite is nestled close to the festival’s perimeter fence and surrounded by hedgerows, giving it a secluded and intimate feel.
One of the best things about South Park 1 is that it has plenty of camping space, even for those who are rolling in on Thursday!
Just make sure you access the campsite from Gate D, otherwise, you’ll have to walk a good 20 minutes to get to it.
So, if you’re looking for a spot that’s maybe close to The Park area and you don’t mind a bit of a walk to the main stages, then South Park 1 is the spot for you.
But, if you’re looking to be right in the heart of the action, this spot may not be for you. It’s a trade-off, my friend. You decide what’s best for you.
Camping in South Park 2
Are you looking for a camping spot that’s a little off the beaten path but still offers some killer views? Look no further than South Park 2 in the Southwest of the festival grounds.
Located just a stone’s throw away from the Ribbon Tower and nestled right up against the Super-Fence, this little slice of heaven offers some truly breathtaking views by day and by night.
Now, I know what you might be thinking, “But wait, isn’t South Park 2 a bit secluded? Won’t that mean a long walk to all the good stuff?”
Well, while it’s true that it is located on the outskirts of the main festival site, it’s still only a 35-minute walk to the Pyramid Stage and William’s Green.
So, if you’re the type that doesn’t mind a little extra legwork for some peace and quiet, this spot is perfect for you.
It offers spectacular views of the festival site and is close to The Park.
South Park 2 is also on a slope so expect some angled camping.
It’s also worth noting that South Park 2 tends to fill up quickly compared to its neighbouring South Park 1, and there’s a bit of a distance between this site and the majority of the action.
In summary, this is ideal for those who want a little bit of seclusion, amazing views, and proximity to The Park area.
Just keep in mind that it’s a bit of a walk to the main stages. But, hey, who doesn’t love a good pre-festival warm-up? Happy camping!

- Great place for a good nights sleep.
Cons
- It is against the fence, so pretty far away from most of the festival, be prepared for long walks!
